Two Chicago bars will not air NFL games in support of Colin Kaepernick

Colin Kaepernick, a former quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, may not be currently signed to a team in the NFL, but two Chicago bars are throwing their support behind him.
In the wake of Kaepernick’s kneeling during the national anthem, as well as donating money and holding workshops to raise awareness for police brutality, the NAACP released a letter to the league to support Kaepernick. The Bureau Bar (75 E. 16th St. 312-888-3156) and Velvet Lounge (67 E. Cermak Road 312-631-3398) decided to show their support, as well.

The two South Loop bars, both owned by Kenny Johnson, will not be airing NFL games and posted this announcement on Velvet Lounge’s Instagram and Facebook page.
“The Bureau Bar will be supporting Colin Kaepernick’s cause and will not be showing NFL games until something changes.”
